Many modern vehicles use a coil-on-plug ignition system, which eliminates the distributor.  These ignition systems are more accurate and provide greater spark, but often do not have a tach hookup!  With Auto Meter's tach adapter, you can add an aftermarket tachometer to most coil-on-plug ignition systems
